Gambia: Yahya Jammeh stole $11m, exported luxury cars – President’s aide.

An aide to the newly inaugurated President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, Mai Fatty, has accused the ousted leader, Yahya Jammeh of stealing over $11m and shipping out luxury vehicles by cargo plane.
Addressing reporters in Dakar, Senegal, Fatty said the new administration met an empty treasury.
He said, “The coffers are largely empty.
“Over two weeks, over 500m dalasi ($11 million) were withdrawn” by Jammeh, adding that “As we take over, the government of The Gambia is in financial distress.”
Fatty also alleged that a Chadian cargo plane had transported luxury goods out of the country on Jammeh’s behalf, in his final hours in power, including unknown number of vehicles.
Jammeh initially insisted on clinching onto power, despite his defeat to Barrow during the December 1, 2016 Presidential election in the country.
Despite his insistence, Barrow was last Thursday sworn-in as President in the country’s embassy in Senegal.
After much mediation, Jammeh eventually conceded defeat  and was flown out of the West African country in a private jet reportedly owned by a National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.
The former President who is believed to have been flown to Equatorial Guinea on exile, went in
company of his wives and mother.
