Family kills, buries son for being stubborn in Imo

One, Lambert Osundu, 54 and his daughter, Rachael Osundu, 24 from Umueze 11 in Ehime-Mbano Council Area of Imo State have been arrested for killing their son, Chukwuebuka Osundu, 20 years.  

 
The victim was beaten to death by his father and his elder brother, Ndubuisi Osundu,  who is currently at large. 
 
They subsequently buried his corpse in a shallow grave beside their house in the night.  To cover the crime, the suspects were said to have  told the victim’s friends and villagers that the deceased had travelled to Ghana in search of greener pasture,” a reliable source said.  
It was further gathered that the suspects had accused the deceased of being stubborn and indulging in vices that bring bad name to the family.

It also gathered that one of their relatives, who sensed foul play over the vicitm’s sudden disappearance, informed some youths of the village, who thereafter intensified his search.
 
An indigene of the village, who spoke in confidence, said the late Osundu was the last child of the family of four. Their mother was said to have died a few years ago.  
 
According to him, when they were confronted by the youths of the community, his father informed them that Chukwuebuka travelled to Ghana. But when the youths threatened to burn down his house, the daughter confessed to the crime.

“The family is presently at the Imo State Police Command whereas Philip, the immediate elder brother of the deceased, is on the run,” the source said.  

Confirming the incident, Imo State Command spokesperson, Michael Abattam, said the matter was reported to the police by Chairman of the village,  Mr. Robert Anyanwu.

He said: “We have got information that one Lambert Osundu, Ndubuisi Osundu and Rachael Osundu, all of Umuezeruagu village in Umueze 11 in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State beat their son to death and buried him in a shallow grave. The victim is Chukwuebuka Osundu, aged 20 years.”
