OSIAFFA 2024: IFAD/LIFE-ND LAUDS INITIATIVE, EXPOSES INCUBATEES TO BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES.

The 2024 edition of the Ondo State Investment and Agriculture Fair and Festival (OSIAFFA) took center stage  in Akure, the Ondo State capital, bringing together key players in the agriculture sector. Organized by the Ondo State Agriculture Commodity Association (OSACA), the two-day event showcased raw, finished, and packaged products from farmers, corporate bodies, local governments, and government agencies.

A notable participant was the IFAD/LIFE-ND Ondo Project Office, which highlighted its contributions at a strategic stand in the main hall of the event. This venue served as a hub for special guests, exhibitors, businesspeople, corporate representatives, and invited guests, with presentations on production, packaging, funding opportunities, and more delivered to an engaged audience.

The IFAD/LIFE-ND stand featured a rich array of raw materials such as plantain, coconut, fish, and cocoa, alongside packaged products like cocoa, honey, chips, and cassava by-products. The exhibits emphasized the organization’s role in enhancing agricultural value chains in Ondo State.

Speaking to journalists, the State Project Coordinator of IFAD/LIFE-ND, Mr. Olawale Ademola, praised OSACA for its dedication to promoting agriculture through OSIAFFA. He emphasized the alignment of the initiative with IFAD's mission to foster community development, youth empowerment, and wealth creation.

"The OSIAFFA program is a platform for showcasing agricultural potential across various areas. It aligns with the vision of the state government for community development and youth empowerment. For us at IFAD/LIFE-ND, OSIAFFA offers a unique opportunity to present our identity and contributions. Our youths can showcase the strides they’ve made in enterprise development," said Mr. Ademola, represented by the State Agro-business Promotion Officer (SAPO), Mr. Bodunwa Adegoriola.

Mr. Ademola also highlighted the rationale for involving incubatees in the event.
"We work across value chains such as cocoa, fisheries, cassava, and poultry. Many of our youths in 100 communities across 10 local government areas have established enterprises, becoming employers of labor. OSIAFFA enables them to connect with agro-input dealers, processors, marketers, and fabricators, enhancing their operations."

This year’s event provided a platform for incubatees to network, explore partnerships, and gain insights into packaging, marketing, and fundraising. "Our incubatees have opportunities to learn how to package and sell their products, access inputs at subsidized rates, and secure funding to grow their businesses. We are proud to showcase our champion incubatees with products to sell," added Mr. Ademola.

Some IFAD/LIFE-ND incubatees expressed gratitude for the exposure provided by OSIAFFA, noting how the event broadened their understanding of success in agribusiness.

OSIAFFA 2024 reaffirmed its role as a vital convergence point for the agricultural sector in Ondo State, fostering collaboration and innovation across the value chain.

TEMPLATE ON HOW TO POSITION ONESELF FOR MORE RELEVANCE AFTER YEARS OF PUBLIC SERVICE:    THE DR BARRISTER ROTIMI ADEYEMI    There is time for everything under the Sun: time to be born, time to die, time of joy and of sadness, time to take and to give, time to start and time to end etc. Everything under the has its allotted time.   The above passage taken from the Holy Writ best summarises the life of every mortal. This has nothing to do with education, wealthy, position, religion etc. It is the lot of all of us.    Every peregrination of man commences sometime and somewhere. When the then young, bubbling and energetic Rotimi Adeyemi joined the public service in those days and came round, people used to call him wolewole. It was a derogatory word used to describe sanitary inspectors. They were popular on account of their notoriety for making life difficult for landlords and occupants of unhygienic  surroundings. People saw them as burdensome...
