Ondo State Government Advocates Community Partnership in Road Maintenance
Assures Completion
of Ongoing Projects, Warns Against Misuse
The Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Pastor Ayoade Babaloa has called on residents of the state to collaborate with the government in maintaining roads, emphasizing the need for responsible road usage.
Pastor Babalola made the call during an inspection of the ongoing asphalt laying on Aule and rehabilitation of Igoba township road, urged residents to monitor and protect the newly constructed roads.
The Special Adviser highlighted the importance of preventing practices that could damage the roads. He advised residents of Aule Road to ensure no canopies are nailed onto the asphalt during ceremonies and cautioned against burning tires or creating bonfires during protests, which could degrade the road surface. He also discouraged diesel spillage from heavy-duty vehicles, noting its damaging effects on asphalt.
He reiterated the government's commitment to tackling drainage issues, warning against construction on waterways. He assured that such structures would be demolished to ensure free flow of water and prevent flooding.
Babalola lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for his dedication to completing inherited projects. “This administration is fulfilling its promise to complete all ongoing township road projects. Aule Road, alongside other key projects like the flyover and township roads in Akure North/South, will soon be finalized,” he said.
He urged motorists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians to use the roads responsibly, cautioning against speeding on the newly paved roads. “While it’s tempting to test the smoothness of the new road, reckless driving must be avoided. An 80km/hour speed on this road is excessive,” he warned.
The Managing Director of Elementary Construction Company, Engr. Olawoye Ayorinde Abiola, the contractor handling the Aule and Igoba Roads, confirmed that the asphalt work on Aule Road would be completed within four days. He further assured that the Igoba Road project would be completed and handed over to the state government within three months.
Residents were urged to be patient as the government accelerates work on various ongoing and newly approved projects. The state government reaffirmed its resolve to enhance infrastructure development across Ondo State.
