HIGHEST PAID UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR IN NIGERIA MONTHLY PACKAGE IS N416,000.00, SAYS ASUU

A University lecturer and spokesperson of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dr. Dele Ashiru has blamed the perennial face off between the Nigerian government and the body on lack of sincerity on the part of the government.

The don disclosed that since 1999, when the agitation for improvement in the funding of the ivory tower and welfare package of the academic staff began, nothing had been done.

"Let me tell you that the take home package of the highest paid Professor in Nigeria monthly is not more than N416,000. They always find a way to shift the blame on us when we embark on industrial action to press home our demands."

Dr. Ashiru spoke today while fielding questions on Channels Television programme "Sunrise Daily".
