A POSTSCRIPT: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, AYO OWOEYE, (MATADOR DAFON): EPITOME OF FOCUS, DISCIPLINE, DEDICATION AND DETERMINATION.

A POSTSCRIPT:  HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, AYO OWOEYE, (MATADOR DAFON): EPITOME OF FOCUS, DISCIPLINE, DEDICATION AND DETERMINATION. Asuretete nii woju ojo, aringbere nii woju awon ero Since he marked his birthday a few days ago, my imagination has been buzzing with the much I know about whom and what this man has become. The more I try to evade writing about him, the stronger the feeling became. What qualifies me to put pen on paper about him? My first contact, which was formal in every sense of the word, took place in 1982, when the late John Famadeji, alias Charity Photo took me there to 'see', Mr. Kola Owoeye, the owner of Mak Owoeye Pharmacy.  Four years later, I was there again, this time as a friend of his nephew, Yinka Owoeye. Since then, Ayo Owoeye has taken as his blood-brother. At a time I was in the valley as a laundry man, he was my number one customer.  When I dabbled into book-selling, he patronised me. The bottomline is that egbon Ayo has never behaved as a big man

ARTICLE: ONDO NUJ: NEW LEADERSHIP BRINGS BACK THE OLD GOOD DAY

IN 365 DAYS, NEW LEADERSHIP IN ONDO NUJ BRINGS BACK THE GOOD OLD DAYS. By Sunday Ajibola Edobor  When we talk of man as the catalyst for development, in these climes many take it as unimportant. Having neglected or pretend not know the enormous power and influence leadership wields,  our society keeps moving in circle in form of merry-go-round. No nation, society was made good by God, the Heavens or any supernatural force somewhere. Every improvement, advancement and innovation we witness were made by men, yes men, serious minded, visionary, selfless and determined people under the guidance of worthy men at the helm of affairs. On the other hand and regrettably, stagnation in societies is the resultant effect of poor leadership. As we have it in governance, so it is in organisations, societies, unions and groups. The way we have become by deliberate action of the people we always entrust with our destiny, give the wrong impression that our collective stagnation is God's making or

On the journey so far, the Bishop thanked God for making the day a reality just as he acknowledged the commitment of the faithfuls for giving selflessly to ensure that God’s work continues to progress. In his charge to the people, Bishop Borokini who read from 1 Kings chapter  8: verse 1-4, appealed to  the people to rededicate their lives for God’s use as the Ark of God has found a resting place in

ARTICLE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADMIRAL DELE ABIODUN, THE FIRST MUSICIAN, WHO CAPTURED MY IMAGINATION.

ARTICLE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADMIRAL DELE ABIODUN, THE FIRST MUSICIAN, WHO CAPTURED MY IMAGINATION. By Sunday Ajibola Edobor   Let me start this piece by congratulating Admiral Dele Abiodun, the juju musician on his 75th birthday anniversary. Happy celebrations.  Life offers man many choices in some areas and no choice in certain aspects at all. Sounds contradictory? Hear me out. We are at liberty to do as we please. But we have no power over the resultant effect of our actions. We have seen people who peg out in their toddlers or teenage years. Some attain mid-age and then bow out. Others die at old age. In this country, whoever live to old age has enjoyed the abundant grace of the Almighty God. It's even more difficult for those in the music industry, I mean musicians. Their riotous lifestyles and the infighting often lead them to their early graves. For Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade and Dele Abiodun as well a few others, to attain 70, 80 and even beyond, it is a very rare privile

PART ONE OF MY ROMANTIC ADVENTURES: JOGGING.

PART ONE OF MY ROMANTIC ADVENTURES: JOGGING. By Sunday Ajibola Edobor People get into activities which they did not plan or bargain for by chance. It just happens. And unconsciously, the interest grows and grows therefrom and never leaves. Young people make as many friends as possible and they get involved in various activities, thereby. Its amusing that I have an abiding and enduring love for jogging. I would not pass up any opportunity to partake in it. And ironically, I have never been a sports person. I never partook in it or any of such physical activity as i was not good in any field event in my primary and secondary school days. I did well in Table Tennis but my interest was in football, in which I was bereft of talent or ability. I performed better, standing between the sticks as a goalkeeper during our "set" games at Muslim Primary School. All the youths of those days had interest in football. I was once drafted to be the goalkeeper when St. Patrick clashed with CAC

OPEN LETTER TO MY LATE MUM: MY PEREGRINATION IN THE HANDS OF FATE

Open Letter To My late Mum: my peregrination in the hands of fate. By Sunday Ajibola (Edobor) Life can be interesting, agonising, depressing and fulfilling at times. It often throws man into emotions of varying degrees. Certain happenstances rekindle memories of decades and make one feel as if they just occurred. This open letter is one of such. Pardon my digression. Momo mi, I am sorry for not getting in touch with you all these years; 27 years to be precise. I have no doubt you have forgiven me even before I asked for it; you have never held misdeeds against me. Though, most of the time, I remember you. But mainly, your special position has not really been fully occupied. Its after your demise that reality of the Yoruba saying "orisa bi iya osi" (there is no deity as mother) dawned on me. Now, I realise that i forgot to ask you so many questions. But then, questions are never exhausted.    That very day you finally bowed to the icy hands of death, your state of health
