Forum of Accountants Honours Ondo’s First Female PhD Holder in Accounting



     The Forum of Accountants in the Public Service of Ondo State has honoured and showered accolades on a trailblazing accountant, Dr. (Mrs.) Oladipo Joycelyn Omobola, for achieving a historic milestone as the first female accountant to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting within the public service of Ondo State.

   Dr. Oladipo, a distinguished member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and currently serving as the Director of Accounts at the Ondo State Ministry of Information and Orientation, was recognised for her academic accomplishments, professional expertise, and invaluable contributions to the accounting profession in the state’s public sector.

   Speaking at a week-long annual event organised by the Forum in Akure, themed "Value Addition in Public Finance: The Role of Accountants," the Chairman of the Ondo State Accountants Forum, Comrade Ayodele Adekanbi, described the honouree’s achievement as a groundbreaking breakthrough for women in the accounting profession.

According to him, Dr. Oladipo’s achievements are highly commendable and stand as a testament to her dedication, perseverance, hard work, and passion for advancing knowledge in the field of accounting.

He added that her accomplishment would undoubtedly serve as a beacon of inspiration to aspiring female accountants and professionals not only in Ondo State but across the nation and beyond.

Describing the awardee as "a woman of many parts," Comrade Adekanbi noted that her various roles have advanced the frontiers of good governance and prudent management of public funds across all ministries, departments, and agencies where she has served.

On behalf of the management and staff of the Ministry of Information and Orientation, the Administrative Secretary, Mr. Lanre Akarakiri, congratulated Dr. Oladipo, describing her as a dependable, experienced, and results-driven professional. He praised her as a dedicated leader, a goal-getter, and a passionate mentor committed to the success of others.

Mr. Akarakiri further noted that the award conferred on her affirms her diligence, quality leadership style, and commitment to excellence in service delivery, adding that the recognition would further motivate her to continue contributing meaningfully to the growth of the public accounting sector in the state.

In her response, Dr. (Mrs.) Oladipo expressed her gratitude to God for the gift of life, grace, and the strength to make an impact wherever she is placed. She also appreciated her colleagues for recognising her “little contributions” to the Ondo State public service and the accounting profession.

She extended her appreciation to the state government for the opportunity to serve, and encouraged public servants to always give their best, regardless of their postings.
