If God says I’ll marry six men before the right one, so be it” – Bukky Wright
Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has revealed her willingness to give marriage another try—under the right circumstances. In an interview with the BBC posted on Facebook, the 58-year-old star expressed that her desire to remarry remains strong, though ultimately, she will follow what she believes to be God's will.
“If God has destined a woman to marry six men before finding the right one, she won’t stop at the fifth,” Wright said. “If it’s ten, she won’t stop at the ninth. I genuinely want to get married again; it’s something I truly desire. However, if God permits it, I will go ahead. If He forbids it, I won’t insist on it.”
The actress, who also owns the fashion house B Collections and beauty spa B Wright, emphasized her respect for the institution of marriage. She recalled even praying at the Kaaba for a fulfilling union. “I never discourage women from getting married because I love the institution deeply,” she said. “But I won’t stay in a marriage where I’m not treated in a way I can accept.”
Wright has reportedly been married five times, including to journalist Femi Davies—who confirmed their past union in a 2019 interview—and to Gboyega Amu, the father of her two sons, Gbenga and Eniola.
Speaking further, the actress addressed the issue of indecent dressing among women, especially in the entertainment industry. While acknowledging that actresses are often criticized for revealing outfits, Wright pointed out that the trend extends beyond showbiz.
“It’s not just actresses—many women now expose themselves,” she observed. “Sometimes, I even ask men if they’re the reason women now expose their breasts like that. Most times, they say they enjoy it and find it exciting.”
Wright, who began her acting career in 1996, remains a respected voice in the industry, using her platform to speak on personal values and social trends affecting women today.
