 EFCC Raids Obasanjo Library Hotel, Arrests Suspected Internet Fraudsters



Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Sunday raided the hotel section of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, arresting several youths suspected to be internet fraudsters.

The operation, carried out by EFCC’s Lagos Directorate during a nighttime gathering, led to the seizure of over 20 luxury cars and other valuables. The OOPL, owned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, also houses his penthouse residence.

Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, confirmed the incident, saying the management was seeking details from the EFCC. The commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said he would provide further information.

The raid came days after EFCC operatives from its Ibadan Zonal Directorate arrested 56 suspected internet fraudsters, including one found with two locally-made pistols, at K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro area of Ogun State. Items recovered included six luxury cars, 89 mobile phones, laptops, and incriminating documents. The agency said the suspects would soon be charged to court.
