Hassan spoke after he was arrested by the police for allegedly removing the one of the eyeballs of Yunusa. Spokesman of the state police command, SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, told newsmen on Wednesday in Kano that the incident occurred on March 20. Police quoted Hassan as confessing that it was an elderly woman who instructed him to bring an eyeball of a human being to make a charm that would make him to be disappearing. “The suspect told police that he lured the boy to a place, tightened his hands and used sharp object to remove his right eyeball,” he said.   Masari tells teachers to teach in mother tongue Kastina Governor, Aminu Masari Bello Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State has tasked teachers in various institutions in the state to teach pupils in their mother tongue. Masari gave the charge during the launch of three books on poetry, literature in Hausa and translation of English dictionary to Hausa language written by Mande Muhammad, popularly known as Ali Kano, an indigene of Katsina state, on Thursday in Katsina. Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Badamasi Charanchi, the governor noted that if children from class one to three were taught in their mother tongues, they will learn better. He stated that the national policy on education was designed to teach pupils at the early stage in their mother tongues. Masari commended the author for writing books in Hausa, describing the effort as a laudable initiative. The baby identified as Pingping can’t grow because of an illness called Progeria also known as Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS) or the ‘Benjamin Button’ disease.   2022 UTME: JAMB registers 1.8m candidates at end of exercise Candidates at a Unified Tertiary MatriculationExaminations (UTME) centre The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says 1, 837, 011 candidates were registered at the end of its 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The board, which disclosed this in its Weekly Bulletin on Monday in Abuja, said that the figure included the Direct Entry (DE) candidates. The board’s 2022 registration commenced on Feb.19 and ended on March 26. The board has also scheduled its examinations to hold from May 6 to May 16. Jamb also added that N238, 105, 700 cumulative amount derived from the regulated N700 service charges from the fifth week of the exercise had been remitted to its accredited Computer Based Tests (CBT) centres. NAN recalls that the board had earlier banned the use of cash in all its accredited CBT centres during the exercise. It directed all candidates to pay the service charges to the e-PIN vendors alon
