Ratchiffe Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich put the club up for sale before he was sanctioned for his alleged links to Russian President Vladimir Putin following the invasion of Ukraine. Three bidders were in the running to buy Chelsea for about £2bn. Ratcliffe’s bid would mean £1.75bn invested into the club over 10 years. A further £2.5bn has been committed to a charitable trust to support victims of the war in Ukraine. Ratcliffe, 69, founded the chemicals group Ineos in 1998.   It was a mistake: Oshiomhole denies presidential ambition Oshiomhole Former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has denied social media reports he was gunning for the presidency in 2023. Oshiomhole in a Facebook post on Friday, said he would make a declaration at Cyprian Ekwensi Arts Centre in Abuja on Friday, live on TV. But the event was called off. In  an interview, the former Edo state governor said the report must be a mistake.   PDP screens 56 gov candidates in S’South, concludes exercise PDP National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu     The Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Screening Committee for the South-South has concluded its task, having successfully screened 56 aspirants from four states. The Chairman of the committee and Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, while speaking with newsmen at the end of the exercise on Friday, said the process was hectic but transparent. Diri disclosed that a total of 57 aspirants from four states were received, but that one of them did not turn up as of Friday evening when the two-day exercise ended. Meanwhile, a governorship hopeful from Rivers State,  Farah Dagogo, was arrested shortly after he arrived at the PDP South-South zonal secretariat in Port Harcourt 24 hours after he was declared wanted by Governor Nyesom Wike. He said this Thursday when he spoke at a meeting with the National Working Committee of the party. Abubakar was making reference to the votes he won in the 2019 election, when he was beaten by President Muhammadu Buhari.   UI student disappears from Lagos construction site, family panics The family of a 22-year-old undergraduate at the University of Ibadan, Samson Ajayi, are in despair after he went missing while going to work on a construction site in the Ajah area of Lagos. Related story:   The  incident happened on March 9, 2022 and the case was reported at the Ogombo Police Station. Samson’s uncle, Taiwo Ajayi, said the victim stayed with his parents in the Alagbado area of Lagos State due to the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. He explained that Samson went to work on the construction site so as not to be idle, adding that efforts by the family to find him were abortive.
