FULFILMEMT OF GOV. AYEDATIWA'S INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PROMISES ON TRACK, SAYS SA ON INFRASTRUCTURE
The people of Ondo State have been reassured that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will deliver on all transformative projects promised during his campaign.
Pastor Ayo Babalola, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, provided this assurance during a press briefing in Akure on Wednesday.
He revealed that preparations for new projects are underway, while ongoing projects have resumed in full force. According to Babalola, inflation-induced budget variations have been addressed through a supplementary budget, allowing contractors to proceed with renewed vigor. He added that the governor would begin inaugurating some of these projects in the near future.
“When the governor toured during the campaign, over 80% of people’s requests focused on infrastructure—roads, buildings, and health facilities,” Babalola explained. “Specific roads like Akure/Ikare and areas in Akoko, Ese, and Ogbagi are already in our plans. By God’s grace, the Oke-Aro Junction to Idanre Road will be dualized. Once completed, Ondo State will undergo a remarkable transformation.”
Highlighting ongoing initiatives, he noted that the Shagari Estate overhead bridge is progressing well, with materials for the final segment expected by December. Additionally, contractors for Oda Road and Ijoka Road have been directed to expedite their work, with project commissioning expected within three months.
The adviser emphasized the governor’s commitment to transforming Ondo State into one of Nigeria’s leading states, reinstating its status as a model of cleanliness and development. He also reassured local artisans and contractors of economic benefits as the projects near completion.
On the governor’s recent electoral victory, Babalola attributed it to the people’s trust and confidence in his leadership. “The election results reflect the people’s desire for development,” he stated. “Governor Aiyedatiwa has shown he’s a man of his word, delivering impactful projects despite limited resources.”
He further urged citizens to protect public infrastructure, including streetlights and guardrails, and announced plans to install CCTV cameras for monitoring. He added that improved street lighting from Akure to FUTA and similar installations in Ondo town have already reduced crime rates and enhanced urban aesthetics.
Babalola concluded by appealing for public cooperation: “These projects are for the benefit of everyone. With your support, we can ensure they remain functional and impactful for years to come.”
