Basiru Usman lands in Kirikiri Prison for toy gun

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered that 27-year-old Basiru Usman, be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for being in possession of a toy gun.
Usman was charged by the police with conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Victor Eruada, Usman and some persons, at large on July 16 at 2 p.m along Alaba Rago Market, Ojo, Lagos ”armed” with a locally-made toy gun, caused fear in the community.
ASP victor held that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 411 and 312 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The presiding judge, Magistrate Folashade Oshikoya, ordered Usman be remanded after a motion moved by ASP Victor Eruada.
ASP Victor prayed the court that the matter be referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
