Former Presidential Candidate Alleges Atiku-led Coalition Bribed ADC Chairmen To Relinguish Offices.
Dumebi Kachikwu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has alleged that the Atiku Abubakar-led opposition coalition offered N20 million to each state chairman of the party to relinquish their positions.
Mr Kachikwu made the accusation in a statement to the Media on Thursday.
According to him, the move is part of a broader scheme by the coalition, led by Atiku Abubakar—the 2023 presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—to hijack the ADC for the 2027 general elections.
Atiku, a former Vice President of Nigeria, is spearheading a coalition of opposition figures determined to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next electoral cycle.
The coalition recently adopted the ADC as its political platform, prompting the resignation of the party’s former national executives, including long-serving National Chairman Ralph Nwosu, in favour of new leadership aligned with the opposition alliance.
Kachikwu, however, maintains that the alleged monetary inducement undermines internal party democracy and casts a shadow over the coalition’s integrity.
