The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, has congratulated its former Rector, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, on his recent appointment as the Commissioner for Education in Ondo State by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

In a statement issued by the institution’s Directorate of Public Relations and Protocol, the Acting Rector, Mr. Olorunwa Adegun—who once served under Prof. Ajibefun as a Head of Department—described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Prof. Ajibefun’s outstanding dedication to academic excellence and transformative leadership.

“Prof. Ajibefun’s appointment is a testament to his exceptional record in educational development,” Adegun said. “His visionary leadership led to major infrastructural improvements during his tenure as Rector, which significantly enhanced the teaching and learning environment at the Polytechnic.”

He further highlighted Prof. Ajibefun’s distinguished career, including his roles as former Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic and former Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. According to him, the new Commissioner’s extensive experience in education policy and administration uniquely positions him to drive meaningful reforms, encourage innovation, and promote academic excellence across the state’s educational institutions.

“We are confident that Prof. Ajibefun will bring transformative leadership to the education sector in Ondo State, in alignment with the development vision of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration,” Adegun added.

The Polytechnic also expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for recognising Prof. Ajibefun’s leadership acumen and entrusting him with the critical responsibility of overseeing the state’s education ministry.

The institution pledged its full support to Prof. Ajibefun in his new role and wished him resounding success as he works to further advance educational development in Ondo State.
