TRAIN ATTACK: EL-RUFAI'S TALKATIVENESS EXPOSED SECRET INFORMATION - MONGUNO

Train attack: El-Rufai's talkativeness giving out secret information - NSA Munguno

El-Rufai and Munguno

The National Security Adviser, Babagana Munguno, has attacked Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai for giving out secret information about the whereabouts of terrorists who kidnapped train passengers.

Munguno spoke after the security council meeting on Thursday presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.

He spoke on El-Rufai’s claim that the military failed to act despite intelligence reports made available to them early enough on the hideout of bandits and planned attacks.

He said the governor’s comments could compromise the security situation as the bandits could relocate to other destinations if they knew that their current hideout was known.

According to him, El-Rufai spoke about the security agencies, “saying we know who they are, where they are. Again, that is dangerous."

He then carpeted the governor, saying, “When you start talking too much. You give away a lot. Now, even if they say we know where they are, that in itself is already a problem.”

Munguno said once such comment was made, whether true or not, the bandits might relocate to another location.

He added that it was better sometimes to just keep silence instead of talking and giving out vital information like El-Rufai did.

This has nothing to do with education, wealthy, position, religion etc. It is the lot of all of us.    Every peregrination of man commences sometime and somewhere. When the then young, bubbling and energetic Rotimi Adeyemi joined the public service in those days and came round, people used to call him wolewole. It was a derogatory word used to describe sanitary inspectors. They were popular on account of their notoriety for making life difficult for landlords and occupants of unhygienic  surroundings. People saw them as burdensome...
